Q: Are there any tests for ADHD I can give my child to tell if he has this condition?
Chestnut Hill CAP A: So there is no single test which you can give which would definitively diagnose this condition. The diagnosis is typically made through history from multiple informant and direct observation / evaluation.
However, there is something called the Vanderbilt Assessment Scales which is a great starting point for parents. This is a set of 55 questions which will help the parents structure their observations as well as give a clinician very useful information to guide their evaluation of the child.
You can find copies of this scale all over the web as it is freely available, but often there is no information how to score the results or help with interpreting the results if there are instructions on how to score the scale.
But fret not, we have produced an automated web version of this scale which you can use and it will score and give some guidance on what the results mean.
This can be found at our Vanderbilt form webpage
I hope you find this useful.
